With the hectic festive schedule fast approaching, teams are looking to take some winning momentum into the Christmas period.
We have picked out five games from across the English Football League to create our top picks for the weekend’s entertainment.
Bournemouth v Blackburn Rovers: Rovers can return with the spoils
Bournemouth 1.8 v Blackburn Rovers 4.2, Draw 5.8
(Saturday, 3.00pm)
The pick of Saturday’s Championship games comes from Dean Court with promotion contenders Bournemouth and Blackburn facing off.
Four games without a win in the league have seen the Cherries’ form turn sour in recent weeks, while Rovers are on the up thanks to a five-match unbeaten run (W4, 1D).
With all the momentum with Blackburn, they might well be able to spring a surprise this weekend and could be worth backing at 18% to come away from the south coast with the spoils.
Huddersfield Town v Coventry City: Stalemate on the cards once more
Huddersfield Town 2.76 v Coventry City 3.0, Draw 3.35
(Saturday, 12.30pm)
The weekend’s action in the Championship kick-starts in West Yorkshire with playoff hopefuls Huddersfield and Coventry going head to head at the John Smith’s Stadium.
Both teams enjoyed strong starts to the season but recent form has seen these sides start to tumble down the table.
Nothing could separate them last season, as they played out draws in their two league fixtures.
It would be no surprise to see the teams cancel each other out once again, with the stalemate available in our market at 30%.
Sunderland v Plymouth Argyle: Long trip for nothing awaits Argyle
Sunderland 1.92 v Plymouth Argyle 4.1, Draw 3.65
(Saturday, 3.00pm)
Sunderland will be confident of keeping up their strong record against Plymouth when the sides meet at the Stadium of Light this weekend.
The Black Cats cruised to a 5-0 win over Morecambe in their last outing, while Plymouth are without a win in their last four League One games.
This should be a regulation win for Sunderland, with the hosts at 2.96 to be winning at half-time and full-time on Saturday.
Wigan Athletic v Ipswich Town: No stopping flying Latics
Wigan Athletic 2.2 v Ipswich Town 3.35, Draw 3.35
(Saturday, 3.00pm)
Unbeaten in their last 10 games in all competitions, Wigan will take some stopping to be denied the three points against Ipswich.
Four wins and a draw in their last five have seen Wigan climb up to second place in the League One standings.
An Ipswich side with just one league win in their last five look set to struggle against the hosts, who are 44% for the win in Lancashire.
Harrogate Town v Northampton Town: Cobblers can take step closer to top
Harrogate Town 2.36 v Northampton Town 3.0, Draw 3.35
(Saturday, 3.00pm)
Manager Jon Brady has seen his Northampton side come on leaps and bounds in recent weeks to move up to second place in League Two ahead of the trip to Harrogate.
The Cobblers have secured three wins on the bounce, while Harrogate were convincingly beaten 4-1 at home against leaders Forest Green Rovers in their last outing.
Expect Northampton at 32% in our market to come away from North Yorkshire with the three points.
